F1 cockpit simulator rental

In shortThe flagship, and the one people photograph. A reclined formula cockpit on a three-axis motion base, which costs you throughput and buys you recognition.

Nobody walks up to a stand and asks for a GT3 simulator. They ask for the F1 one. That recognition is most of what this configuration is for, and it is worth being clear-eyed about, because the shape is doing more work for your activation than the lap times are.

It is also the hardest of our rigs to get in and out of, which is a real cost on a busy floor.

The configuration

What it is

A reclined single-seater cockpit with pedals raised above hip level, mounted on a three-axis motion base giving pitch, roll and heave.

What you gain. The silhouette. In a photograph, from across a hall, on a social post, this reads as motorsport instantly and nothing else in the fleet does. It is also genuinely the most dramatic thing to drive, and the motion base amplifies that rather than smoothing it.

What you lose. Ingress and egress. Getting into a reclined formula seat takes longer than sitting down in a GT cockpit, and it takes longer still for guests in business clothes. That time is in your cycle time on every single guest, and across a show day it is the difference between a long queue and a short one.

It is also the least forgiving car we put beginners in, which is why we often recommend pairing it with a GT rig so the crowd can self-sort.

Footprint, power draw, crated weight, largest case dimensions, crew and setup time for this configuration are being measured rather than estimated. Each number publishes here when its record is complete.

We would rather leave this gap than print a figure that fails at a load-in dock. The category publishes one footprint for an entire fleet and the published figures contradict each other, which is the problem this approach exists to fix.

Which race types suit it

F1 is the obvious fit and IndyCar works well for the same reason: both are open-wheel, so the seating position matches the car. Running a stock car on a formula cockpit looks wrong and guests notice. If you want NASCAR or GT on the same stand, that is an argument for a second rig rather than a different race type on this one.

Questions

What people ask about f1-style formula cockpit

Why does it cost more throughput than a GT rig?

Ingress and egress. A reclined formula seat takes longer to get into and out of, especially in business clothes, and that time lands on every guest rather than once per hour.

Is it too hard for beginners?

Harder than GT, and manageable with a briefing. The usual recommendation is to pair it with a GT rig so guests can choose, which also gives you two formats for the crowd to self-sort between.

Does the motion base make it worse for motion sickness?

Usually better, counterintuitively. The platform moves with what you see rather than against it, which is the mismatch that causes discomfort. Our operator still watches for it.

Can we wrap it?

Yes, and the silhouette carries a simple livery further than a GT body does. A single mark and a colour works better here than a detailed design, because the shape is doing the work.

Is the motion base the same as the 3DOF motion GT?

Same three axes, different cockpit on top. The seating position is the difference, and it changes both the feel and the throughput.

When will the specifications be published?

When the measurement record is complete. For this configuration the ceiling clearance figure matters more than most, because the platform moves vertically.
